She was about to ask the gaijin why he did come to her store then, but he continued on before she could. "I'm a private investigator. I'm here because some relatives of your employees hired me to find them so they could get back in touch."That got her attention. She couldn't help but scowl a little as well. "Funny. They didn't care before now." Maria breathed in deep, sighing in aggravation at his words. "No, they're not in. I gave them the day off today." Briefly she looked back at the one in the suit again as he set down the plant he'd been holding. Only for him to bump into another and- That was quick. His reflexes allowed him to catch the pot just before it hit the ground. That was... curious. Then again, a guy like this would need some kind of skilled bodyguard, she supposed. "Anyways... They didn't seem to care about those two before now. Left them to figure out things for themselves and they wound up on the streets because of it. I took Aya & Chiaki in after running off some thugs that had been tormenting them. Can't say I'm keen to let those assholes know anything about them." Her tone and language were harsh, but it was easy to see why. --- Tags: ADRIAN BISHOP

Adrian shrugged when Maria questioned his clients motives. "They seem to want to check up on them now....maybe they've gotten the time to reconsider what they did." posited Adrian. "Thugs? Here? Seemed like a pretty peaceful place when I moved here." remarked Adrian. Of course, that was a lie, but only because he was aware of the supernatural. Seattle had its share of nasties, too: wendigos, the Willatuk, the Mount Hood Dragon...come to think of it, Seattle was THE city for supernatural creatures due to its terrain and climate. "Would you mind giving me their phone numbers? I'm pretty sure my clients would settle for talking to them on the phone." Adrian requested, pulling out a small spiral bound notepad and a pen. "Thugs? Here? Seemed like a pretty peaceful place when I moved here." "Every city has a few of the same traits, whether they want to acknowledge it or not." Maria shrugged and then sighed. "As for their numbers... No. If you give me yours however, I will give it to them after explaining the situation. From there, they can choose for themselves if they want to contact you or not. I get what your part is in this, but I want them to make their own choices on the matter."Maria folded her arms. Looking over at the one in the suit though, at least he seemed to be staying away from the pots now. After a moment more, she looked back at the one in the trenchcoat again. --- Tags: ADRIAN BISHOP

Adrian shrugged. "Fair enough." he said. Reaching into his coat pocket (one thing he loved about his trenchcoat- it had extremely spacious pockets), Adrian pulled out a business card and handed it to Maria. The card read: BISHOP INVESTIGATION AGENCY
To find God, read the Bible. To find anyone else, call us.
Under that was the agency's phone number. Behind the text was the agency's logo- a chess bishop. "Thank you for your time, ma'am." Adrian said politely. He turned around to look at the man in the business suit. "C'mon, Dosei-san, our work here's done." he said. The man grunted in acknowledgement, following closely behind Adrian as he walked out of the store. MARIA NAKAJIMA

Maria uncrossed her arms, accepting the card and looking at it herself.
To find God, read the Bible. To find anyone else, call us.
Maria was tempted to roll her eyes. That was about as cheesy as something out of an actual murder mystery novel. Well, it did have a certain charm though, she'd give it that. Looking up at Adrian again, she curtly nodded before watching the two of them leave.
Looking down at the card once again, she sighed. She wasn't entirely certain why this bugged her as much as it did. Perhaps it was frustration with the people that the detective claimed to represent. Perhaps... it was something else. Regardless though, she sat back down in her chair behind the counter. Reaching into a pocket and withdrawing her phone she started to make a call.
"Hey Aya, it's me. I've got something to tell you and Chiaki."
...
Maria hung up after a while longer. The phone call had gone longer than she expected it to, but it was for good reason that it had. Frankly though, she was starting to hope the rest of the day could be more like her encounter with Chidori rather than the one with Bishop.
