This is Sanyo news! The warmth of summer has just arrived, the odd chill that was spring is now gone! We got some strange news for you rumor mongers though. It seems that there is a cherry blossom tree atop the Bubble. All attempts to have it taken down seem to have failed. For now it still seems to be under investigation.
Full Name: Meili Jie Nickname(s): It’s not known but if someone she doesn’t know and or comfortable with call her Meimei, punching shall occur. Age, D.O.B.: 17, May 20th Gender: Female Category: Devil Summoner Arcana: Fortune Grade/Career: Third year High School at Futaba High School Ethnicity: Han Taiwanese Family: Zhihao Jie(Age: 43) Meihui Jie (Age: 43)
Meili tries to present an air of seriousness and dignity to contrast her rather petite stature of 5 feet and 2 inches or 157 centimeters. She has long black hair and eyes that is typical of her ethnicity and has a lean physique honed by exercise, her hobby of wushu, constantly traversing about the city.
Her attire is always business. She wears her school uniform to code and outside of school she dresses at worst, business casual. This is to maintain an image; especially to the other Devil Summoners in Sanyo should she encounter them. However, if by some chance someone looks at the window of her apartment, they will see a sloppy dressed girl wearing various t-shirts and shorts with her hair in disarray. This is arguably Meili at her most ease since at home she has no expectations of dress and her parents can’t pester her all the way in Taiwan (unless they want to video call.)
Personality Likes: Gambling (Particularly mahjong), trading cards, karaoke Dislikes: Losing gambles, weakness of will on display, incompetence Hobbies: Singing and wushu Goals: To be an accomplished Devil Summoner through her own methods.
Despite her young age, Meili tries to present herself as professional as possible. She is not harsh but definitely distant in her day to day interactions. Only with being annoyed does her sharp tongue come out and she isn’t one to pull punches if she wants to make her contempt known. Her air of ‘business only’ doesn’t do well to mask how easily annoyed she can be.
Underneath all this is a surprisingly violent personality that believes in the beauty of subjugation. A person whose life has made her come to the conclusion that for her to have what she wants, to make the life ideal for her, she has to force life to co-operate, be it using the subtly of subterfuge in negotiation…or if they don’t negotiate the ferocity of force.
Meili finds no moral wrongness from someone using power to take what they want and she finds immense disdain for those who have the power to fight back but don’t. This leads to Meili oversimplifying situations to the detriment of herself and others, mostly ignoring that she can’t force everything her way. If confronted with this fact, she’ll stubbornly come to the conclusion that she isn’t powerful enough be it in intelligence, strength, or influence. This gives her an almost false humility as she won’t stretch the limits of her power but should she feel she can accomplish something, little morals are in her way and she doesn’t expect complaining from her opposition.
Meili Jie is the descendant from a long line of Chinese Devil Summoners. Growing up in the coasts of Taiwan, she learned how to summon demons, mainly the main demon of her choice, the Panlongs. Being part of a long legacy of Devil Summoners, Meili was taught the ways of demons and summoning them as well as how to fight.
She had a strict upbringing. Always had to do things a certain way. Any other ways she would attempt would be met with harsh criticism. She didn’t understand the strict tones slung her way, all that she knew is that she had no choice but to take it.
Meili’s training was a long road. While she understood the theory, taming actual demons was difficult. They would either run or not listen to her. She was not worthy in their eyes. Her parents ultimately decided she lacked physical strength and started to train her in more than just basics, signing her up for martial arts lessons.
After months, she was finally given a chance to try again to tame a demon. As Meili felt her grab the barely physical presence of the Panlong…it was then she understood how this world operated and everything clicked into place. She was a muscle in this family as far as it is concerned. Another extension to keep its strength just as she is trying her best to subjugate this dragon. Upon her first taming, she was finally given praise for the first in fifteen years.
To further her training and strengthen her bond with her demon, she was sent to Sanyo. An office is situated there for her to learn from other Devil Summoners and improve her skills. She has until when she graduates Futaba High to sharpen herself for the future of the Jie family.
Meili’s main weapon against demonic hordes (outside of her fists) is a Jian. On her person is numerous jade charms to contain her demons.
-In Wushu she mainly performs Changquan and Jian methods. She doesn’t do the sport officially and does Wushu as exercise but she still feels a fondness for it.
-Meili is living on her own in a small apartment in the Star District. In contrast to how Meili dresses like a slob at home, it is unusually clean and well kept.

Panlongs are described as long serpentine dragons. The Chinese would be surprised if they knew their Qing Dynstay flag portraying these dragons appearance was completely accurate. Panlongs are coiled dragons that do not live in the heavens but in the waters. They are often an ancient motif in Chinese art. As with most dragons in Chinese symbolism, they are icons of power and should not be worn or flaunted unless the owner has earned the strength of self and right to do so.
The green jade it is kept in is a circular dragon that is held by a red strap, usually to her belt or sash if she is wearing formal robes.
