This is Sanyo news! The warmth of summer has just arrived, the odd chill that was spring is now gone! We got some strange news for you rumor mongers though. It seems that there is a cherry blossom tree atop the Bubble. All attempts to have it taken down seem to have failed. For now it still seems to be under investigation.
Basics Full Name: Naoki Ginrou Nickname(s): Whatever you'd prefer. Age, D.O.B.: 17, July 10th Gender: Male Category: Civilian Arcana: Chariot Grade/Career: Second Year Student of Mishiro High School Ethnicity: Japanese-American (Half Japanese, Half American) Family:
Alexandra Ginrou (Mother, 44)
?? Ginrou (Father, late 40's)
Naoki presents himself in a mostly straight posture that sometimes breaks form into a lax or lazy state like laying down on a park bench or propping himself onto a wall if waiting for an uncertain amount of time, his height is around 6 feet and 163 lbs while baring a slight muscular and lean physique underneath his clothes. His skin is slightly olive tinged but is mostly blemish-less apart from a star shaped birthmark around the backside of his waist, callouses are heavy around the hands and feet which indicate Naoki's baseball practice in the regular batting cages and at school.
Bright Silver sharp eyes give the impression of him scowling at people or staring at them even when it wasn't his intention, his thin nose, oval-ish ears and regular lips are less interesting then the aforementioned eyes in addition to his strong blonde short hair that barely reaches his eyebrows and the back half of the neck. Due to being born in Japan and raised all his life here, he's come to learn the language around him even while his Mother sticks to using English at home, this means Naoki is quite fluent in Japanese while semi-fluent in English, his voice is deep and strong so it doesn't take much for someone to hear him across a baseball field.
Apart from school attire and the couple distinct red coats he has strung up somewhere in the closet, Naoki's wardrobe usually consists of T-shirts that reference games or say stupid things in English like "Bang You!", shorts that have alot of pockets that are mostly beige in colour, indoor and outdoor sandals, black boots and shoes, jeans that are usually blue and lack holes, an assortment of simple rings and other various articles of clothing that fit seasons more cold. Oh, lets not forget some of more modern game consoles littered about in one corner of the room, it's about the only thing that isn't fully tidied up properly in his bedroom.
Sweets - A guilty pleasure, but a short lived one if his mother finds them. That's mostly attributed due to their shared love for hard candy and taffy.
Clean Surfaces - Being the first who comes home and last to leave has naturally lead Naoki to clean the small apartment he shares with his mother, nowadays the smell and sight of a fresh, clean environment brings him into a good mood.
Cooking - Due to being the one who always cooks food in the family, Naoki grew a natural love for cooking and appreciates how good food can effect a normal person.
Pinball machines - Games in general are fun for Naoki, but he cannot forget himself sinking hours into a certain pinball game he played on a handheld console.
Gloves - form-fitting, leather ones to be specific, Naoki feels safe when he has something wrapped around or on his hands, especially if it makes his hands warm
Wasabi - That green mush devil in a bottle, Naoki can't stand the smell nor taste of this evil looking paste. That doesn't stop him from cooking with it though.
Liars - A little white lie could be understood and forgiven but the context matters. Naoki always dislikes when people willingly lie to him, especially if the end result hurts.
Seeing people in pain - Naoki grew up in full view what emotional pain looked like, the grief his mother held for years is always a reminder to him that sometimes people just need another person beside them in dark times.
Cluttered environments - It's mostly the smell that bothers him, the sight could be irritating to look at too.
Jerks - Just people who show no respect or common decency to another living being just ticks him off, especially when they target a friend or acquaintance. Sometimes this can lead to disastrous consequences if Naoki doesn't pay enough attention to the situation.
Hobbies: Going to the batting cages, playing in the arcade, going out in general. Goals: Find his father and beat the hell out of him. Win this year (and possibly next year) baseball championship with team from school. Go to a nice college and university. Possibly stay in America with mother. In that order.
Naoki has a driven, albeit slightly lax personality. While he does many things like making food for himself in addition to his mother in the morning and evening, helping out with cleaning duty whenever the baseball club doesn't have a meeting or training day, go shopping after school for spare groceries if there is a certain recipe he wants to try or even going out of his way for a stranger in clear need of assistance or just to see what in the world is going on, Naoki mostly does this to keep himself occupied and alert, he treats it as busywork that needs completing and it originally formed when his mother started to slowly stop working around the house during the younger parts of Nao's life. This need to do something gradually evolved to a state where it became a part of Naoki's character to do things people either didn't want and left intentionally or chat with people who looked isolated and who is possibly lonely.
Naoki understands personal space and won't pry into a stranger's past but his way of talking and presenting himself can be seen as tactless or standoffish at times, he's rather direct and sometimes lack of forethought with speech could lead to the opposite effect he wanted to achieve or be used to his advantage to hide his honest opinions in plain sight. Naoki doesn't like to lie and would rather dodge questions of hard topics he can't engage at the time if the situation calls for it, but he isn't afraid to speak his mind about subjects and stand up for someone who's losing an argument if he believes they are right. This "brazen" personality that isn't afraid to admit they're wrong or is lacking in required knowledge made him well liked within the baseball club
While it is admirable to help those in need, Naoki does possess a sore spot on known distrusted individuals if he comes into contact with them again. He could act rather colder then usual and sometimes reply with one-words to being outright hostile and try to intimidate others depending on the individual. Naoki knows that some people may have the wrong perception of him and his character so it's rather hard to earn this dark greeting initially when just meeting a new person and trying to get to know their character, even if after a previous one-time confrontation, Naoki is willing to let misunderstandings resolve itself through discussion.
Naoki spent most of his life with his single mother within an apartment on the ground floor to one of the many complexes dotted around in Sanyo's Sun district. He was born native to Sanyo in Bright Hospital unlike his Mother who was born and raised in Texas, America or his Father in Tokyo, Naoki knows little even after his birth about his father but one thing was for certain in his mind even before he met him once, his father wasn't a nice person, since he left Nao's mother early after their child's birth. During the early years, Alexandria took the break up with grace, even keeping her previous husband's surname and still wearing that wedding ring as testament to the love she still kept deep then.
It was around the time when Naoki was accustomed to Masara Primary School and already spent a couple years there, when he finally met his deadbeat of a dad for the first and last time of his life. That moment where he left the confides of school to reunite with his loving, waiting, visibly uncomfortable mother and his smiling, gleeful, almost crazy eyed Father brought to attention that something was wrong. His father at the time asked who does Naoki want to stay with permanently between his parents, he naturally chose mother over a stranger he never met until today but before he finished those words, the world flipped and darkened. Naoki was admitted to the hospital shortly after with multiple bone fractures and internal bleeding, his father wasn't a nice person.
After that day, Naoki had no contact with his father like normal, not even knowing the reason for his father's less then stellar reaction to this day. His mother was naturally visibly shaken after the whole affair and became more deflated by the week, even after getting out of the hospital, Naoki's world started to change slowly and subtly with his mother. She started to skip on picking Nao up after school, giving an excuse that he should learn to grow up on himself, she eventually left Naoki to go to school and back all by himself, she then started to come home later then usual sometimes, Naoki could hear the times his mother would come back home in the midnight and almost cry herself to sleep.
It was evident that Alexandria still felt attachment for both her child and this stranger called Father, but eventually time sorted out her internal struggles and strife. It was likely after noticing Naoki started to look after himself even by the age of 9, even making food for them both at 11 and even getting house groceries at the same age. By the time Naoki was midway through middle school that Alexandria started to become visibly happier and not just healthy, more talkative and filled with questions, it was around the time when she started to stop using Japanese as a means to communicate with her child and stick with her language of birth, even going so far as to stick with a texas dialect.
The change was gradual but Naoki got to know his mother before her journey to marry the deadbeat in Japan, how she was fitness trainer and was a MMA fighter before that. Alexandria talked about many things from her visits across the country of America to even the kinds of food she ate at that one diner in Colorado, it lead to further discussions of martial arts, movies and sports, oh how she loved baseball and boxing was evident to Nao since that was the times where he saw a radiant and smiling woman, his mother became the sun during their talks and eventual physical training. Eventually Naoki left the going-home club during middle school and signed up to the Baseball team and pushed his mother to work as a fitness trainer at the Sanyo Bubble in one of their fitness centres.
Today, Alexandria still works there as a bubbly personal trainer in the morning where she helps with other like-minded mothers and seniors to get in shape, sometimes giving her son some private boxing practice at some spar room. She comes home to a son who always lets laze about more then necessary or just talks about their mediocre day, even during the rare occasions where she comes home first, Alexandria will no longer willow in sadness about her long forgotten love but now, all she'll need to think about accomplishing is to make sure her little golden haired and silver eyed cub will grow to a mighty beast. Even if she'll sometimes get a bit selfish with her demands to him.
Main weapon: Fists (Strike) Side weapon: Metal Bat (Strike) Armour: Regular Clothing
Naoki is rather confidant with his bare fists and could use his knowledge in boxing to take out an opponent, but if that fails, using a weapon of similar size to a bat could be just the utensil he needs.
Naoki is a prominent member of the Mishiro High Baseball team, he's good enough to possibly ride a scholarship up to Asame University if his grades are "up to snuff" in his mother's words.
Guardian Spirit Name: Okuri-Okami Arcana: The Chariot
Resists: Elec Weaknesses: Bless
Skills: RAIKOUZAN - Deals light Slash + Electric damage to one foe. RAKUNDA - Decreases an enemy's defense. RESSEIHA - Deals light Almighty physical damage to all foes.
Description: Other names include: Yama-inu, Okuri-Inu, etc. Literal translation: "Sending off Wolf"
Most spirit wolves in shinto mythology were known as the messengers of gods, while they were agile and a terrifying existence to other spirits/yokai, the Okuri-Okami was a blessing and a curse to all who travel beyond unstable ground, be it in woods, twisting urban roads or wherever someone can lose their sense of direction. While most of these spirits exist to protect or even guide the young and old while lost, they would rip to shreds anyone else who tripped on the terrain while they stalk you. Their presence was a blessing due to scaring all other spirits away, but a curse if you trip and fall unintentionally. It was customary to say "Thanks for seeing me off!" to the Okuri-Okami once successfully finding your way out of the local, since these wolves would follow closely behind people, trailing them almost like a friend sending them off.
