He’s rather lithe with not much muscle mass (a noodle, if you will). Most people think he’s a lot shorter due to the fact that he’s often seen slouching. Or, more than likely, his head is always down, never making eye contact with anyone. He has soft blond hair he cuts himself, and deep crimson-colored eyes. Fair-skinned, he burns easily in the sun, and when he’s flustered it’s incredibly apparent. Yuliey has a very light array of freckles along his nose, ears, and along his neck. These only show up when he’s been in the sun too long. Yuliey has two earrings in his right ear, both studs, and three in his left, also studs. He tends to always have a watch on his wrist and a pair of headphones around his neck. [attr="class","app-faceclaim"]

Yuliey is a hard person to pinpoint. At a glance Yuliey is an introvert with very little social skills. He's quiet, withdrawn, doesn't interact with people, and keeps to himself. He fades into the background, like an unnamed extra in a movie, and he never really tried to rectify that, ever. It's noted that when someone does try to talk to him, they begin to notice his sharp edges. He's sharp-tongued, guarded, always looking for a way out. It's like he's wary of everyone around him, and honestly, he is. People can't be trusted. No one who isn't in his immediate family can be trusted, and for good reason. They were unknowns, people he didn't have the answers to. He couldn't read them like he could read his family, and that scared him. He's so scared of being hurt, of being betrayed, that he's erected walls made out of the hardest metals possible to keep everyone out, developed a wicked tongue to keep people away, and worked hard to avoid all unnecessary contact. He just wanted a quiet life, for everything to pass along in amicable quiet; it was the only way his mind would keep quiet long enough for him to take a deep breath, breathe, and relax. [break][break] It didn't happen often, considering his already anxious and depressed disposition. He is a cacophony of conflicting thoughts, one half wanting him to end it all because he was a waste of space, useless to everyone around him and nothing but a burden, and the other half telling him that he wasn't even worth that kind of effort, and that it would be better off if he just let himself get murdered and his body hidden forever. It's like having a tiny imp on his shoulder whispering in his ear, telling him all the things that could go wrong and always complaining about his mess ups, while a thick black blanket draped over him, weighing him doubt, reminding him that he was useless and that he'd never amount to anything. It was oppressing, and sometimes all his thoughts get too much, and those are the days he's most likely to spiral, to disassociate, and to cut out people for weeks at a time. It's always a hard time, and in the end his family drags him out of it forcibly, if only to make him feel a little more normal.[break][break] At heart though, Yuliey is a such a kind and compassionate person. He cares deeply for those he's managed to build trust into, and would do anything to protect them. He's sensitive, with low self-esteem, and values the opinions of others a little too much. Yuliey is gentle and never really thinks about himself. He's soft and sweet and tends to wear his heart on his sleeve, you just have to be real observant to pick up on it. He doesn't do well with extroverts, but it might just do him some good. He's incredibly lonely, and is convinced that he's going to go through like without a single friend in the world. After all, why would anyone want to be friends with someone so broken?
[attr="class","app-section-title"]History [attr="class","app-long-row-last"] [attr="class","app-long-title"]Family: [attr="class","app-long-field"]Matsuri (Adoptive Mother), Takashi (Adoptive Father), Saya, Miki, Mamuro (Adoptive Siblings), August Anthanas (Birth father/Estranged) [attr="class","app-section"]TRIGGER WARNING: CHILD ABUSE, CHILD NEGLECT[break][break]
Life for Yuliey growing up wasn't kind. In fact, it was awful, and through all that pain, it shaped him into the way, closed-off person he is today. He doesn't know much about his birth family, as his father never really talked about it. All he knew was that he had an older sister, and after he was born, his mother and his father grew apart, and they split up. It was a really nasty split, with the children being broken up as well. His mother took his sister, and his father took him. [break][break] Sometimes he wished he would have just died in the womb, before any of this could happen.[break][break] Broken up by the split, and angry beyond compare, his father, August, was convinced that their divorce was all Yuliey's fault. The strain of a second child was too much for their marriage, and it ended up in their happy marriage falling to pieces. August began to drink, and when he got drunk, he got violent. Yuliey couldn't give you the number of times he had been beaten, just for making his presence known, for speaking up, for asking for food or water, or to bathe. He learned to be quiet, learned to stay out of his father's way when he could, learned how to sneak food and sneak baths and whatever he needed. It was the only way he could survive. And he did barely that. See, August's words were impressionable to a small child, and Yuliey soaked up the accusations like a sponge. He was at fault. He was to blame. If only he wasn't born. If only, if only. It ruined his sense of self worth, and in the end, he stopped fighting against his father when he wanted to beat him. [break][break] Yuliey just took it. Learned to live with long sleeves, learned to dodge questions. Teachers could never get the truth out of him, just half-hearted lies and small shrugs of too thin shoulders. How could they help him when he didn't say anything? They knew something was wrong, and that it was only getting worse when Yuliey was absent for several days in fourth grade. When he returned, there was a bandage over his left eye, and a permanent frown, dead and cold, on his lips. He hadn't died in body, but it looked like the little boy's spirit had finally broken. [break][break] Naturally, his strange wound brought in a lot of questions by the medical staff, and it prompted an investigation into the case, especially when doctors learned that his left eye had been damaged by a glass bottle that had traces of alcohol on it. Social services swooped in with officers, and that's when Yuliey's horrifying living conditions, and the extent of his abuse came to light. They didn't even spare a moment's notice to gather evidence, bring it to a judge to get a seizure warrant, and swoop in to take Yuliey away with what little belongings he had in a little black trash bag. [break][break] It was a flurry of activity, and the next thing he knew he was in foster care, a ward of the state, bounding from one foster family to the next, who would tell the workers that he just 'wasn't a good fit for their family'. It wasn't that he wasn't a good fit: he was just too withdrawn. He didn't engage, and he often made the other kids uncomfortable with his blank gaze and bandage-wrapped eye. Yuliey was convinced that he would be put in a shelter and then shoved out into the real world at eighteen to struggle on his own, having no one that wanted him. And he was just fine with that. He was a burden after all, a mistake that shouldn't have been born.[break][break] However, it seemed the Fates had had enough of torturing him so much, and on his thirteenth birthday they cut him some slack in the form of one Matsuri Matsumoto, and one Takashi Matsumoto. They had come all the way from Sanyo City, in Japan, to talk to him after learning about his case and what he'd been through. They spent hours with him, gently talking to him, letting him make the first moves. He was weary of course. They were adults, and adults couldn't be trusted. What if they hit him too? Called him worthless? But they never did. In fact, Matsuri brought him some Japanese sweets, talked to him at length about the beauty of Sanyo, and about the two younger children they already had, who thought his (now newly given) eye patch was really, really cool, and that they would love to have a big brother that looked really cool. Yuliey couldn't be sure if they were lying to him or not, but they were sincere, and he was tired of being in the system. So he agreed to go with them. [break][break] It would take him another three years and another addition to the Matsumoto household to fully warm up to them. But when he did, they knew that he loved them wholeheartedly. He opened up to them, laughed more, put on some weight, looked healthy. He still struggled with his own thoughts, but they were pillars of strength that he leaned on when things got rough. Yuliey honestly wouldn't trade his family for the world, and kept his father's last name as a reminder that, yes, it happened, but he has a family that loved him now, and that his last name was just that, a last name, not a reminder of being told that he was trash his entire childhood. [break][break] Yuliey is now currently eighteen years old, attending college for Photography after joining a photography club in high school. He fell in love with the subtle art, and now studies to take photos professionally. He still struggles immensely with his own fears, and hasn't made a single friend in school all these years, and at this point, he's given up on trying. So long as he has his family, he doesn't need to try for friends. They'll just abandon him, like the ones long ago did.

Yuliey takes morning classes, leaving the rest of the day for homework, work, and family bonding. He's fond of high places because as a child, he would climb up to the roof where his father couldn't find him, and just feel the wind in his hair. If he lifted his arms, it would feel like he was flying, and able to escape for just a little bit. His dog is an Akita, and acts as his emotional wellness animal, and always knows when he's going through a really bad time to keep him grounded. His name is Butterscotch.
