Tell 'Em All I said Hi Hope you've been well You've Been Asleep
While I've been in hell
Wearing one of her somewhat more mature outfits, as opposed to the ones that got accusing looks about her age, the brunette wandered through the colourful park with a small smile on her face. Her near-transparent top provided her a nice buffer against the gentle breeze, as she only had a bright, summery blouse underneath. Still, the weather was moderate enough that she hadn't bothered with stockings or pants, opting for a reasonably short skirt that she felt rather comfortable in as she wound her way past a few rows of larger trees. Whilst Chidori would be the first to admit she often didn't have the greatest fashion sense, this outfit was one even she felt 'cute' in, though her plan was to stay mostly isolated for the afternoon; previously, on an exploratory trip, she'd found a neat spot, secluded from the general view unless someone knew to look, under the shade of a beautiful old tree. She had her sunglasses resting atop her head though, in case the glare shifted enough that she would need them. With a bounce in step that was uncharacteristic for her in recent times, the brunette laid out a blanket at the base of the tree, settling down atop it with her back against the truck, pulling her sketchbook out onto her lap. From here, there was a wide array of colours to witness, flowers in bloom spreading out in most directions - there was even a small pond, calm and steady without the breeze affecting it. Indeed, it was an almost picturesque location that Chidori was glad to have found - a 'private' retreat to draw whilst getting out of her apartment, with plenty of inspiration to draw from. As it was, within minutes she was fixated upon her page, sketching out details, working on a realistic landscape resembling the one before her. It was her usual process - starting with something grounded in reality - as a basis for a string of further drawings. As everything she was replicating was right there for her reference, it did not take her long to make a sketched rendition of her environment, enough to give her some time to think. Taking a quick photo (for digital editing and the like, if she so chose later), she let the end of her stylised pencil tap against her lips, lost in thought for some time. Idly, she took steady breaths, the mixed scent of a thread of lavender wrapped around the stem of a golden rose (attached to the rim of her top) filling her with a pleasant calm. Letting her mind wander, it was that scent that eventually sparked an idea, and in a sudden flurry of energy, she flipped to a blank page and began to re-sketch the landscape - however, she began to substitute the flora with other kinds, notably some roses and lavender. Some of the environment became more warped and vibrant, as if the place was steeped in a natural kind of magic that amplified everything, even the size of the plants; the tree she sat under became massive, it's sturdy frame providing one of the borders to the large page of her sketch. From a perspective akin to something up high in one of its branches, the picture began to take shape, peering out down the gentle slope towards the pond, framed in this wild, mythical floral forest. Instead of herself under the tree, she began to etch a large bird coming to rest on one of the overgrown roots, its wings clipped and marred. Seemingly oblivious to the obvious allegory, her hand moved across the page in an almost bizarre trance - her passion for drawing seeming to be enhanced, driven to an extreme focus by the inspiration of the scents filling her head with new flashes of imagery. Down upon the sketched lake, larger than the real pond, the surface rippled and a spray of water indicated a figure rising from the depths. As she worked, that figure remained a blank space, only outlined by the features around it, as if the inspiration for what was surging up from the water's depths remained a mystery in her mind. To onlookers (in the unlikely event there happened to be any), she appeared to work around it as if it were a void, detailing almost everything else instead - the grass, the sky, the lines upon the old tree. Everything except the figure that seemed at once central to the image, and also diametrically opposed to the bird under the shade of the tree. Nonetheless, in her fixation, Chidori had tuned out her surroundings, turning back to that blank space as if churning away, trying to unravel the mystery that refused to reveal itself. Maria briefly looked at the watch she wore upon her wrist, idly checking the time. Having left Aya and Chiaki to run the store and Yomi to take care of deliveries, it was a nice time to get out for awhile and enjoy some lunch. After having a good bowl of ramen at Naganoodle though she didn't feel like returning just yet. Rather, a brief check of phenomena was on her mind. Not that she'd go far from the Moon District for the time being. A small lap of the area didn't prove too fruitful though. She now found herself in Sogen Mankai Park, a quaint little part of the city that spoke well to the nature lovers and to the people who simply wanted a nice view while they relaxed or committed themselves to some other kind of work. Even for Maria, it was a nice peaceful sort of place that made for a nice walk after not finding what she had been looking for after so long now. And still, she was not ready for the place that she suspected her answers actually lay. Her power base was simply not good enough. Aya and Chiaki were pleasant girls to have around, but they did not possess the potential. Yomi however proved to. And with how eager she was to prove herself to Maria, her little 'knight' would be quite useful in the coming days. But still, she needed someone who could provide firm support. Where oh where...? Her train of thought began to derail however as she spotted a familiar brunette on her walk. It was Chidori, that mute girl, she recalled. Of course, the most familiar detail about her was the mix of lavender and one of Maria's roses that she wore. Smiling to herself, the Shadow began to walk over towards the girl, who was focused upon her sketchbook. That actually brought to mind that she had seen the same one during Chidori's visit to her store. With a familiar scenery now that she recalled. What an amusing little coincidence. "Hello there, Chidori-chan. What a pleasure to see you again." Maria spoke as she approached, a genial smile upon her face. --- Tags: CHIDORI TSUKINO

Tell 'Em All I said Hi Hope you've been well You've Been Asleep
While I've been in hell
A flash of insight spread across her features, as the image of a pair of golden eyes darted across her mental landscape; she moved her pencil back to the blank space, just barely touching the page and beginning the curve of an eye when a voice snapped her from her reverie. Having been so utterly focused on her work and puzzling out the mystery that was only barely beginning to reveal itself to her, the brunette became easily startled by the (pleasant) interruption of Maria's company, blushing bright red - a stark contrast to her somewhat pale skin, now that it was easily visible in the soft daylight. The panic of letting herself get so distracted, especially in public, gripped her for a few moments before she got a hold of herself. In her flustering, she dropped her pencil, but kept a tight grip on the sketchbook, but that in no way covered up the scene she had been depicting and mulling over if Maria chose to look more closely. Slowly regathering her composure, Chidori blinked and looked up from her sitting position, to properly look at who had greeted her; thankfully, her contacts hadn't dislodged in the process, so it only took a brief second or two for her to realise it was the rather lovely flower store proprietress. Allowing herself a silent, slow exhale, the colour dimmed a little in her cheeks, and a gentle and surprisingly genuine smile (given her recent panicking) curved her lips as she waved back in return. It was still a little embarrassing to be addressed with that particular honorific but at the same time, almost flattering, so she didn't press on it as she began to sign back, taking her time in order to not fidget or mess up her gestures. 'Hello Nakajima-san. It's a bit surprising to bump into you here, but a pleasant one. Have you been well?' Perhaps a little more formal than she had intended, but something about the situation made her reflexively revert to it - it was both a comfortable atmosphere, and a nervous one, especially since she was sitting whilst Maria stood nearby, towering over her even more. Still, as she drew in breath through her nose, the mixed scent from her mini-bouquet helped her relax, almost as if it were trying to tell her everything was fine. The girl had simply panicked in response to Maria's voice, clearly startled as she floundered to hold her sketchpad and dropped the pencil she had been holding. She was simply adorable. This human was one that simply tickled her pink over how amusing she was. Most other people in the city, men or women it didn't matter which, were usually all so stuffy in regards to most matters. It was rare to find someone like this girl (especially after the implications of what Maria had seen) who seemed so... defenseless wasn't the right word. Carefree? Closer, perhaps. Regardless though. Maria casually picked up the pencil that had fallen near her as she approached, smiling once more towards Chidori following the other girl signing towards her. "I'm doing quite well, Chidori-chan. Better, even. How about you?" She'd proceed a bit closer, offering the pencil back to Chidori before speaking again. "May I sit next to you?" She indicated the blanket that Chidori sat upon. --- Tags: CHIDORI TSUKINO

Tell 'Em All I said Hi Hope you've been well You've Been Asleep
While I've been in hell
She slightly tilted her head in curiosity at Maria's response, though her smile grew to hear that Maria had been well - she wished nothing but good things for the woman that had been so kind and patient with her when she'd entered The Golden Rose by chance. Plus it was refreshing to have someone proficient with sign language to converse with, without the hassle of pantomiming or writing. Gratefully accepting her pencil back with a nod of her head, she signed back, 'Quite well actually. It's been a good day so far.' She didn't quite bring herself to admitting that it might have just gotten better with Maria's company, but it did hang there in the pause. Still, those thoughts and her next question fled her mind almost immediately when the golden-eyed woman asked to sit beside her; her blush returned with a vengeance, and unlike before, the chances of it diminishing any time soon were next to zero. Not that that stopped her from meekly nodding her head and shuffling a little to make sure Maria had plenty of room to take a seat, trying not to fidget too much at the proximity. Thankfully, her breathing only quickened a little bit, barely noticeable, and she pulled herself together to finish asking the follow-up question that had popped into mind at the floral proprietress' first answer. 'You said things have gotten better? If it's not prying too much, may I ask what changed?' A gentle curiosity, curtailed by a mix of a shyness and politeness - a peek at what lay beneath the surface of the brunette's mannerisms. Nevertheless, she didn't make a move to keep much distance between them, too worried about the sheer heat in her cheeks and the fact that this was a woman she would rather like to be able to keep talking with (and perhaps befriend) to stress about the somewhat intimate proximity. Maria slowly knelt and then sat down beside Chidori, though not too close. As she looked from Chidori to the surrounding area, she was also quite inclined to agree with the brunette on the day being a nice one. The scenery was quite nice and gentle spring breeze provided a soothing sort of feel that enhanced the atmosphere of it all. Honestly, she was starting to be quite content in her decision to go upon this walk. "It is a good day, isn't it?"Closing her eyes in satisfaction before releasing a relaxed sigh, she opened her eyes once more and looked over at Chidori. The mute girl began to sign once more, Maria chuckling a bit. "Well, I've gotten myself a new girl at my shop named Yomiko. I found her living under a bridge of all places and took her in. She's started to act like a knight of all things as well, but I enjoy her enthusiasm." Maria chuckled a bit more, a certain fondness in her voice. "How about you, Chidori-chan? Anything new with you?" She grinned towards the brunette. "I'd noticed you were working on something in your sketchbook as I approached. May I see it?"--- Tags: CHIDORI TSUKINO

Tell 'Em All I said Hi Hope you've been well You've Been Asleep
While I've been in hell
Glad to see that Maria shared her view on the pleasant atmosphere around them, Chidori's gaze rested upon the older woman's face, gauging her reaction with unguarded curiosity and interest. If she were to be honest, outside of her work, her university mentor, and a strange friendship quite some time back, the brunette rarely spent much time just.. hanging out with people. Work was always a bit different, as she slipped into a professional role, and whilst she certainly offered support, understanding, and compassion, it was very different to try and just be.. herself, in a social situation. Her old friendship was certainly not something she could base normal interactions on, as neither she nor her roommate had been particularly 'normal' individuals, and her mentor had had to coach her very patiently through some difficult times, leading to a strongly developed rapport that focused on certain things. When it came to just general chatting and trying to make friends, well... she kind of lacked any solid experience. Churning away with those self-conscious thoughts, she still paid enough attention to hear Maria's explanation for her better mood in recent times, a brief story that made the mute woman's eyebrows raise. On the one hand, it reaffirmed Chidori's notion that Maria was a rather generous and kind person to take someone in off the street, and on the other, the individual in question sounded rather intriguing. A few blurry images flitted across her mind's eye, ideas beginning to form for later sketches - but for now, she simply signed a quick response, 'A knight? She sounds interesting, and you're very kind to have taken her in like that.' No admonishment, no questioning of ulterior motives - just a genuine statement of her belief that she might have met a decent person from a chance encounter. The request that followed though, drew Chidori's attention back to her lap, where her sketchbook still laid, the current sketch still mostly visible and notably unfinished in that one spot, the beginnings of an eye the last thing she had done. Given that she had not had many notable changes recently, other than her uplifting encounter with Maria in her store, the brunette merely had the drawing to show - and she did so, gingerly shifting the sketchbook onto the blanket space between them, allowing Maria a better view. Nervously, partly because sharing her drawings when they weren't a work project or commission was nerve-wracking for her, and partly because it was still frustratingly unfinished, she waited to see the other woman's reaction, fidgeting just a little. ...Kind, huh? That word gave Maria pause. She had simply done what she had thought was the right course of action in regards to the homeless girl. The fact that Yomi held the potential was part of her reason, but... Hm. No, rather... It was but a fraction of what was going on, but not as much of a factor for Maria's decision as she had perhaps convinced herself it was before. How curious. "Well, perhaps the next time you come to my store, I'll introduce the two of you." Maria began to grin once more, letting her previous thoughts quickly fade, lest she dwell on them perhaps too long. After a moment more, Chidori displayed to her the drawing that she had been working on as well. A massive tree, a clipped-winged bird. 'How fitting,' Maria though. Did Chidori realize it herself? Maria wasn't certain that she did. A curious aspect though was the figure that appeared to be rising from the water. The faintest hints of an outline, but the only detail appeared to be a half-drawn eye. How genuinely curious it was. "It looks beautiful, Chidori-chan. Might I ask who the figure rising from the water is supposed to be though?"--- Tags: CHIDORI TSUKINO

Tell 'Em All I said Hi Hope you've been well You've Been Asleep
While I've been in hell
Ah, she had promised she would come back to the store to see Maria, that was true - and she intended to keep that promise, though she was originally going to wait until she needed, or wanted, another bouquet of flowers. The current mixed bunch was still going strong, and she was very much happy with the floral aroma, thankful for Maria's gift of golden roses. They added a different tinge to the lavender that gave her a little spring in her step each time she smelled them - hence wearing a small cutting with her clothes today, for inspiration and to keep her spirits high. The thought of meeting this young woman Maria spoke of though, put her back on edge a little - she wasn't normally very good with making strong connections, and it seemed like this Yomiko likely mattered to her somewhat. Chidori didn't exactly want to give a poor impression, and she was normally only passable when it came to prolonged social situations at best... yet, if she were honest, her interactions with Maria so far were proving to be an exception to the norm. Maybe, just maybe, she could pull off another? It was worth trying, at the very least; that much Chidori was sure of, a mixed feeling of excitement and obligation to continue returning the store owner's kindness. 'I'm a little wary, I have to admit, but I think I would like that.' Accompanied by a gentle, hopeful smile, the curve in her lips soon dimmed, then vanished as Maria queried the mystery that remained in her drawing. Normally the compliment would have caused a blush and a stronger smile, but in the midst of her difficulties in completing the sketch, that reaction was simply overwhelmed. 'I don't know. Or rather, I do know but...' A palpable sense of frustration radiated from the young brunette, who seemed to be at a loss for the right words, much like she had been when Maria had first talked to her about her scar. Eventually though, she pushed on with a silent sigh, relying on describing her thought process in the creation of the picture to explain her issue. 'I know there's a figure there, a figure both central and not to the picture. Something tied to the bird, in some way. But I don't know who exactly the figure is, nor what they look like. Just gold eyes, I think.' Frowning a little, she shook her head and looked up at Maria a little sheepishly, realising that it probably sounded kind of silly still. 'Some of my drawings, like this one, I just get a sudden flash of inspiration. A blur of imagery, or colours, something that sparks my hand moving without my actual... comprehension. So it can be hard to describe elements of the sketch, like the missing figure, without describing it in relation to something else. Hopefully that makes sense.' Giving her a moment to digest that, Chidori's gaze drifted down to her own blouse, where the clipped flowers lay. 'For instance, I was looking around me here, and breathing in the scent of the lavender and golden rose, when I got the flash for this picture. I suppose it's linked to both of those, or things related to them.'Tell 'Em All I said Hi Have a nice day I'll be just fine

Maria could feel the anxiety, the frustration emanating from Chidori following her compliment and question. Looking from the picture to the brunette once more, she could already see Chidori in the midst of preparing to sign to her once again. 'I know there's a figure there, a figure both central and not to the picture. Something tied to the bird, in some way. But I don't know who exactly the figure is, nor what they look like. Just gold eyes, I think.'Connected, hm? A clipped bird and golden eyes. Why, it seemed the girl's answer was right in front of her. 'For instance, I was looking around me here, and breathing in the scent of the lavender and golden rose, when I got the flash for this picture. I suppose it's linked to both of those, or things related to them.'Maria began to grin once more. A hand rose from the blanket towards Chidori's chin, gently encouraging the girl to tilt her head until she was looking the taller Maria in the eye. Or rather, in her entrancing golden eyes. "I wonder... just what that might be, hm~?" A seductive tone filled her voice, a brief, playful chuckle passed her lips. "Lavender and golden roses. A clipped bird and golden eyes. Why, could it be..." Maria leaned a bit closer, teasingly so, but giving Chidori enough space to draw away if she wished to do so. "Me~?"--- Tags: CHIDORI TSUKINO

Tell 'Em All I said Hi Hope you've been well You've Been Asleep
While I've been in hell
The instant Maria made contact, Chidori froze up, though she offered no resistance the gentle shifting of her gaze upwards; soon enough, she was staring into those molten gold orbs that had flashed across her mind's eye earlier, albeit so briefly that she hadn't recognised them. Now she did, and the realisation dawned on her just as the other woman elucidated the premise aloud, causing the brunette to blush harder than either likely knew was possible for the young woman. If she'd had her voice, the mute brunette would be stammering, frozen in place, her gaze trapped in a stare with the golden eyes she had been moments away from drawing when Maria had encountered her. A few seconds passed in that moment of realisation, and then the full force of Maria's words and tone hit her, along with the playful chuckle. The space between them had seemed to evaporate, and as Chidori came to realise that, her whole body tensed up; now she was not just frozen, but rigid too. Her mind was whirring away elsewhere though, still unravelling the revelations of her inspiration - she had been drawing a near fantastical scene, with a figurehead in the piece entirely based upon a woman she had only met twice now. Indeed, it had been merely the mixed scent that had reminded her of the store that had set it all off, and she had simply gone down the rabbit hole with it, until she produced the unusual piece of artwork... starring a woman she barely knew, yet seemed entranced by - and was now mere inches away, a slender hand holding her chin. Oh gods, she'd made it weird, hadn't she? Drawing someone you barely knew like that was weird, right? Yeah, that seemed to make sense. People shouldn't get attached that quickly normally, let alone begin drawing them as centrepieces in detailed sketches. And now Maria had seen it. She'd probably find Chidori really weird or creepy now; she had to just be playing along, patronising her, to try and make her feel less awkward about it all. Yeah, there wasn't a chance that she'd find something like this flattering right? Not from someone like Chidori - noooo, that was definitely just weird and she should feel bad for making Maria sit through all of it. The budding sense of potential friendship with the kind and beautiful woman seemed to be withering up rapidly, and the brunette seemed to wilt in the process of it. The emotional distress that roiled through her would be almost like a powerful stench to anyone even remotely empathic, and it only got worse as she began to make a pained, strangled kind of whimpering noise - one of the few kinds of noises she could still make, and it was one of extreme distress, brought on by the sudden realisation of awkwardness and a sharp relapse in her self-confidence issues. Every coping mechanism her mentor had helped formulate with her to help her deal with emotional burdens after the death of her parents just... vanished, leaving Chidori a prisoner and victim to her own emotions. Her mind continued to buzz, finally starting to connect more of the dots in her artwork and its inspiration - notably the fact that she was very much the clipped bird underneath the tree. Not just from the relative locations, but from the simple fact that she recognised the analogy now for her own crippling physical, emotional, and mental debilitation. No, a bird with clipped wings was probably an apt representation of her, perhaps even more flattering than she deserved. The wild and overgrowing garden surrounds were like her emotions running amok, the curves and tangles so utterly reminiscent of the vicious cycle her feelings fell into. As it all came to a complete circle in her mind, Chidori seemed to slump, gripped in a death hold of panic and dejection - the nervousness and aversion she'd normally feel about the physical contact with Maria now smothered beneath it. But now it was replaced with something heavier, something deeper and more profoundly entwined with her sense of self - the scars ran far deeper than her skin. « tag: MARIA NAKAJIMA // notes: A peek into the madness and depression »

The girl practically looked like a tomato had replaced her head at first. But, ah. A clipped bird indeed. It had started small, but began to build. Faster and faster it built as she could both visibly see the crumpling and vaguely feel the emotional distortion twist and collapse in upon itself like an endless spiral of self-destruction. After all, she was familiar with it. She was born of it. Maria furrowed her brow, removing her hand from Chidori's chin and backing away herself. She scooted a bit closer to Chidori as well, the hand that had been upon her chin finding it's way to Chidori's back, slowly rubbing the brunette's back in a slow, soothing motion. "There, there. Calm down now. Everything's alright. You're alright, I'm alright. Everything is fine. Nothing is wrong." She spoke slowly, but methodically. The girl's pain was a familiar feeling, one that compelled her to console the poor dear. --- Tags: CHIDORI TSUKINO

Tell 'Em All I said Hi Hope you've been well You've Been Asleep
While I've been in hell
When the support of Maria's hand on her chin fell away, Chidori's head drooped a little, matching the slumping of her shoulders as she tried desperately to restore some sort of internal balance. Having a breakdown was bad enough - having one in public, in front of someone she was hoping to befriend, was utterly mortifying. She barely registered the older woman shuffling closer, but when she made contact again, it was like something had disrupted a still body of water; the ripple effect radiated outwards from such a simple effort of consolation, and the brunette seemed to gravitate towards it. Gingerly she leaned into Maria's touch, her torrential emotions overriding any sense of aversion as she tentatively pressed her head upon the other woman's shoulder, folding in on herself a little; combined with her vulnerability, it likely only made her look even younger, despite her more mature outfit and her willful attempts to improve her emotional growth. Indeed, despite hating the fact that she felt like a child having a meltdown, Chidori couldn't deny the comfort that Maria's gentle soothing gave her, the way the simple reassurances she quietly spoke of seemed to fight back against the waves of crippling despair and anguish. Moisture welled up in the corner of her eyes at the inner conflict, and sure enough, a few silent, hot tears stained her cheeks - she'd feel bad later for getting Maria's shoulder wet, but for now, it was the only way for the young woman to release some of the turmoil. For a few moments, it was just that - Chidori gently leaning into Maria's embrace, silently crying, until her breathing began to slow down, taking in deeper breaths. The tension in her body slowly lessened, and as a few more moments passed, the brunette seemed to settle in the other woman's embrace, as the last tears shed down her face. Gingerly raising her head to look up at Maria, cheeks burning bright, Chidori opted to mouth a few words instead of trying to sign, the plaintive 'tone' still present in her expression - she couldn't quite bring herself to pull away from the gentle consoling contact, now that the golden eyed woman had slipped right under her usual barriers. She craved this kind of closeness far too much, and in a moment of utter weakness, that simple gesture had solidified in Chidori's heart and mind the idea that this woman was being unfailingly kind to her, despite everything. Whilst she didn't believe she deserved it... Chidori wasn't going to say no to it either. 'I'm sorry... but thank you.'Tell 'Em All I said Hi Have a nice day I'll be just fine

Maria continued trying to comfort Chidori, slowly rubbing her back and speaking to the girl with short, reassuring words. After a bit longer, Chidori began to stir, to place her head upon Maria's shoulder. The comforting rubs began to turn into a hug from Maria, gently holding the girl while continuing to speak soothingly to her, gently rubbing her back again after a moment more. The Shadow could feel the human girl's tears, as much as she could feel the way that Chidori's head moved and her breathing changed as the silent sobs breached the dam of her emotional reservoir. A moment more and slowly, ever so slowly, Chidori seemed to regain some minor amount of calm in her emotional tempest. She drew away slightly and Maria blinked in surprise as Chidori both tried and immediately failed to actually speak. Had she been any slower on the uptake, the silver-haired girl would have been unable to discern what Chidori had tried to say. After a moment more, Maria's own expression turned into a soft, reassuring smile. "Think nothing of it, Chidori. Relax now, alright? Everything is just fine and we're both alright. There's no need to worry." One of her hands raised to Chidori's head, patting her softly. "Everything is alright."--- Tags: CHIDORI TSUKINO

Tell 'Em All I said Hi Hope you've been well You've Been Asleep
While I've been in hell
And just like that, Maria's gentle approach helped push back the tide of conflicting emotions that laid quite close to the surface in the young brunette woman. In the process, she was now also one of only a handful of people who had ever held Chidori in their arms, and even more rare, had done so without a real protest or resistance from her. In the ebbing wake of her turmoil, the aversion had subsided as well, and now the mute woman had to admit to herself that she'd desperately missed being able to be close to someone. She craved this kind of physical contact, unrelated to work, and since she'd moved away from campus, there was no one to turn to for it - her mentor was both rather busy and rather far away now, her friend from school long gone, and no family to rely upon for consolation or comfort. No, Maria was the first real relationship outside of work that Chidori had made in Sanyo, and already, the golden-eyed woman was making strides and leaps as far as the younger woman's trust issues went. Gingerly, as she didn't really want to draw away much, the brunette gave a small nod to Maria's latest reassurance that it was all okay, that they were fine, and things would be alright. Had her cheeks not already been burning bright red, they would have heated when she felt a hand upon her head, patting lightly - a motion that made Chidori shiver just gently, and had she been capable of it, likely would have had her cooing as well. It was embarrassing but... also quite a pleasant sensation, to be cared for like this. That being said, she had to lightly disentangle her arms for a moment to sign, since mouthing really only worked for very short bursts. 'And it's okay that I'm drawing you as a part of the piece? If it's an issue, I will stop, but I'd like to see it through now... and share it with you, when I'm done. I think that's the least I can do after this mess.' A rueful but genuine smile touched her lips then - as much as things had gotten very heavy and wild, very fast, Chidori couldn't exactly say she was entirely displeased with all of the outcomes. Besides, a strange sense of wanting to prove herself to Maria seemed to building inside of her now - she wanted to be able to show the golden-eyed woman a finished, coloured piece, and hopefully have her approval and praise for it. Perhaps a silly notion but the brunette woman wanted to do something for Maria after all of this, and drawing was one of the few things she really could do. Unless there were injuries to tend to, or clothes to make that was - but that was a little more niche and removed from the current situation. Maybe in time, she could find a way to be useful, to make Maria proud and return a little bit of the kindness that had been shown to her. Tell 'Em All I said Hi Have a nice day I'll be just fine
